GAP MEDEA - UniPa

The research activity of the MEDEA Group concerns the applications of Physics in Medicine, Environment and Cultural Heritage. Competences and equipments available enable allow investigations regarding ionizing radiation dosimetry for radiation protection, diagnostic of clinical beams and verification of treatment plans in radiotherapy. Studies of retrospective dosimetry and for control of irradiated foods are also carried out. Environmental physics studies are aimed at analyzing air pollution and groundwater pollution. In Cultural Heritage investigations the main topics of research consists of analyses of geological, archaeological, artistic and historical materials, and their structural and composition characterization. Results provided by our group can be used in order to plan intervention aimed to conservation and restoration.
